Ok, I got it
The Great Dane is a giant and regal dog, who needs special care in the way of feeding and care. Here, we believe in a complete holistic way of raising our dogs, and with this attitude, we have added years onto the lifespan of the Great Dane. By holistic, I mean that we do not vaccinate our dogs, and we feed a raw and natural diet that is species appropriate. Even when kibble fed, there are precautions one should take when selecting a food, and believe me they require a very high quality kibble, and feeding is not cheap when feeding kibble.
Our animals still get their nightly bed time "cookie" which is a wheat based buiscuit. This is the only commercial food the dogs eat. The rest of their diet is comprised of raw meaty bones, poultry, and lots of veggies and eggs.
We have had no problems feeding a speies appropriate diet, and even puppies are weaned right off of their mother onto raw ground chicken.

I am the author of "Basics of Canine Nutrition" a course offered by the British Institute of Homeopathy -Canada.   This course is available via distance learning with a full time tutor available to you. The course is divided into 10 segments, starting with the history of kibbles and the history of Canines right through to feeding for different life stages and disease. Veterinarians, holistic practitioners, groomers and other animal experts have taken the course all doing very well. I Invite you to have a look, it may just be the course for you.
